Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Pearl

Pearl was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Northwest Rankin Cougars, falling 3-0.

While Pearl was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Northwest Rankin's winning margin in every set. The final set scores came out to 25-4, 25-12, 25-13.

Northwest Rankin was led to victory by Brooklynn Heard and Sophie Tatum. Heard had six aces and four digs, while Tatum had 19 assists and two aces.

Pearl has now lost 17 of their last 18 games on the road. That's still a better percentage than their 0-9 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 3-1 Petal (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 86.6% over those games). As for Northwest Rankin, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Pearl has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Florence on the 22nd. As for Northwest Rankin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Shades Valley on the 21st.
