Volleyball Recap: Mater Bay Academy's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak at Home

Mater Bay Academy proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against International Studies, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rays have posted since April 9, 2024.

Mater Bay Academy took International Studies into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 22-25, 17-25, 15-7.

Mater Bay Academy was led to victory by Adrian Berra and Robert Elias Sanchez. Berra had 15 digs and ten kills, while Sanchez had 29 assists. What's more, Sanchez posted two digs, the most he's had since back in March.

Mater Bay Academy's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10. As for International Studies, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Mater Bay Academy will be playing at home against Colonial Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for International Studies, they will venture away from home to challenge iMater Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
