Preview: Portola Tigers vs. Redding Christian Lions

Portola is 3-0 against Redding Christian since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Portola Tigers will be staying on the road to face off against the Redding Christian Lions at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Portola has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 444 points over their last six games.

Even though Quincy scored an imposing 62 points on Tuesday, Portola still came out on top. Portola walked away with a 69-62 victory over Quincy.

Portola's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Sheridan led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sheridan has scored at least a third of Portola's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Bowling, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Redding Christian pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Portola. Redding Christian's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Portola's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Redding Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Portola was able to grind out a solid win over Redding Christian in their previous matchup on Wednesday, winning 72-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Portola since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
