Preview: Grundy Golden Wave vs. Lebanon Pioneers
The Grundy Golden Wave will head out on the road to face off against the Lebanon Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Grundy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Grundy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 33 points or more this season. They blew past Tazewell, posting a 73-40 win on the road. Given Grundy's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Tazewell is ranked 366th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grundy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan McClanahan out in front who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Looney, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Lebanon didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Eastside on Friday, but they still walked away with a 60-54 win.
The losses dropped Grundy to 3-2 and Tazewell to 0-3.
Grundy skirted past Lebanon 55-53 in their previous meeting back in February. Will Grundy repeat their success, or does Lebanon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
