Softball Game Preview: Clements Colts vs. Colbert County Indians

The Clements Colts will face off against the Colbert County Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clements has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Clements is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Rogers, falling 11-1.

Clements saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carly Nave, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Colbert County's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Lexington on Tuesday. Colbert County came out on top in a nail-biter against Lauderdale County, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since April 23, 2024.

Makayli Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hallie Holland, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Andrea Hacker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Clements' defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Colbert County, their win bumped their record up to 9-6-1.

Clements suffered a grim 16-4 defeat to Colbert County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Clements avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
