Basketball Recap: Heide Trask Takes a Loss

Heide Trask lost against East Bladen back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Heide Trask Titans had to suffer through a 52-12 loss at the hands of the East Bladen Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while the Eagles are ranked 73rd).

Heide Trask's loss came despite strong showings from Danyla Moore and Alana Philyaw. Moore posted six points and five rebounds, while Philyaw had no points. Moore is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

NeNe Ward continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Bladen, going 8 of 12 on her way to 20 points and seven steals. Ward has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Smith, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Heide Trask and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for East Bladen, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Heide Trask didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 42-26 loss against Dixon on the 16th. East Bladen will take on East Columbus in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. East Bladen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.
