Football Recap: Millington Central Comes Up Short

Something's probably wrong if your squad accumulates more yards in penalties than offense, a fact Millington Central just learned the hard way. They were beaten by the Haywood Tomcats 44-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Tomcats are ranked 72nd).

This is the second loss in a row for Millington Central and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Haywood, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Millington Central will venture away from home to take on Craigmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will be up against the Chiefs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.83 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Haywood, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Memphis Business Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
