Baseball Recap: Traverse City Christian Beats Benzie Central for Their Fourth Straight Win

Traverse City Christian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Benzie Central Huskies. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-5 on May 10th.

Reece Broderick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Traverse City Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Coby Bilderback, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Cameron, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Traverse City Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.8.

Traverse City Christian's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Benzie Central, they now have a losing record of 8-9-1.

As of now, neither Traverse City Christian nor the Huskies have any future games scheduled.
