Recap: Hi-Plains Patriots vs. Arickaree Bison

The Hi-Plains Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 58-42 bruising from Arickaree. While losing is never fun, Hi-Plains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Arickaree is ranked 118th).

Hi-Plains lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bex Seaman, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Seaman is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Aiden Cordell was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.

Hi-Plains struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Arickaree pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.

Arickaree's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but AUSTIN WRIGHT led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of JAKE KING, who scored 13 points along with five steals.

Hi-Plains bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Arickaree, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Hi-Plains won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kit Carson at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. Arickaree won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Flagler at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th.
