The Desert Vista Thunder earned a 42-31 win over the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions on Thursday.

Desert Vista's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Steel, who threw for 339 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Cooper Walsh also helped out as he racked up 117 receiving yards.

Desert Vista didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Mountain Ridge to a completion percentage of just 43.5%. The Thunder weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 61.3%.

Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge had strong showings from Easton McClanahan, who rushed for 102 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, and Lukas Baughman, who threw for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns. McClanahan got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 66 yards. Mountain Ridge also got a significant boost from Gavyn Pappas, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

The win got Desert Vista back to even at 2-2. As for Mountain Ridge, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Vista will venture away from home to take on Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Mountain Ridge, they will challenge Valley Vista at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
