Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Millington's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Millington barely beat Unionville-Sebewaing the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Patriots on Monday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Morgan Matusik was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Matusik was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Millington got a massive performance out of Ashlyn Bentoski, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Bentoski has posted since back in April. Kamyrn Blackmer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Millington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in four consecutive games.

Millington is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11.

Looking ahead, Millington will host Vassar at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, they will head out on the road to take on Midland at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th.
