Monte Vista hasn't had much luck against Centauri recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pirates will challenge the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Monte Vista against Ignacio as the squad secured a 55-6 victory. With the Pirates ahead 48-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Judah Howe went supernova, rushing for 97 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Those 97 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Kelby Mondragon got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Monte Vista didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Ignacio to a completion percentage of just 38.1%. The team can thank Domyon Naranjo for the heroic effort on defense: he. Monte Vista has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.58 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.58 in their last three games.
Monte Vista didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mondragon. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Centauri really took it to Trinidad for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-6 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 28 points or more this season.
Monte Vista better keep an eye on Carson Shawcroft. He was instrumental in Centauri's win, rushing for 69 yards and one score, while also catching one TD. Shawcroft was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Shandon Gilleland was another key player, rushing for 56 yards and one touchdown.
Monte Vista's record now sits at 6-2. As for Centauri, their record is now 7-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Monte Vista has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Centauri struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 180.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Monte Vista beat Centauri 36-26 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Falcons' Parker Buhr, who rushed for 255 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
