Basketball Recap: Thomas Jefferson Extends Winning Streak to Six

Thomas Jefferson had won five straight games and Shane Curry did his part to make it six on Saturday. The Thomas Jefferson Spartans had just enough and edged the Golden Demons out 56-53 thanks in part to Curry, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards. The matchup was his 11th in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Vanabbema, who posted six points along with nine rebounds and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last four times he's played.

Golden's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Leif Hansen, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points, and Dylan Paulson, who scored eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Aidan Owens was another key player, putting up eight points.

Thomas Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Golden, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.

Thomas Jefferson will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Regis Groff at 6:30 p.m. As for Golden, they will head out on the road to square off against Pomona at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Golden is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.
