Basketball Recap: North Park Wildcats vs. Vail Mountain Gore Rangers
The North Park Wildcats struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Vail Mountain Gore Rangers had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. North Park received a tough blow as they fell 53-37 to the Gore Rangers. North Park has not had much luck with the Gore Rangers recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
North Park lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gavin Pittington, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jace Cornelison, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Vail Mountain was led to victory by Jack Schwartz and Grant Iverson. Schwartz scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Iverson scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schwartz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Vidal, who scored five points along with 17 rebounds.
North Park's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Vail Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
North Park will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Vail Mountain, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Saints at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Vail Christian is ranked 188th, while the Gore Rangers are ranked 185th).
