Basketball Recap: Reed Starts Season with Victory at Home

Reed gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They really took it to the Sparks Railroaders for the full four quarters, racking up a 77-17 victory. The Raiders have beaten the Railroaders the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Railroaders has come to flipping the script.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Reed to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Hoffman, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 18 points and four steals. Chase Spencer was another key player, shooting 71% from the field en route to 13 points along with five boards and three steals.

Coming up, Reed won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sparks, they and Dayton will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played.
