Basketball Recap: Battiest Panthers vs. Clayton Bulldogs
The Battiest Panthers can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Clayton 68-34 at home. The victory was nothing new for Battiest as they're now sitting on three straight.
Clayton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shelton Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Lewis has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Brayden McDaniel was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Battiest pushed their record up to 14-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Clayton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.
Battiest will face off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eagletown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Panthers are ranked 166th). As for Clayton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
