Softball Game Preview: St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish vs. Revere Minutemen

The St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish will challenge the Revere Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Vincent-St. Mary will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

St. Vincent-St. Mary came out on top against Southeast on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Fighting Irish blew past the Pirates 6-0.

Alli Zajac was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Zajac was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avarie Mays, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Kim, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Revere suffered their biggest loss since May 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to Field. The game marked the first time this season in which the Minutemen were not able to get on the board.

Revere saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paige Kelley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Revere's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, the win got them back to even at 13-13.

Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Vincent-St. Mary hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Revere struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
