Volleyball Recap: North Gwinnett Takes a Loss + How To Watch

North Gwinnett was the 2-1 winner over Gainesville when they last played one another back in September of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Elephants on Thursday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 26-28, 25-11.

Alexandra Buturca-Florescu paced North Gwinnett's offense, picking up seven kills. Buturca-Florescu got some help from Kalli Yoo and her 22 assists. Poem Strickland controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Gainesville can attribute much of their success to Pren McGarvey, who had 16 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Reid, who had 11 kills.

North Gwinnett's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Gainesville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Gwinnett will venture away from home to square off against Creekview at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gainesville, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Milton at 6:00 p.m. on September 4.
