Softball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Merced's 15th in Last 17 Outings

Merced won the last time they faced Central Valley and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bears put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 11-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Annalise Ramirez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Ramirez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Antonia Lejarde was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Maisen Priddell, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Merced has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Central Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Merced has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Inderkum on the 26th. As for Central Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-1 defeat against Elk Grove on the 26th.
