Basketball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

Columbia lost against La Marque back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Columbia Roughnecks took a blow against the La Marque Cougars, falling 98-34. While losing is never fun, the Roughnecks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1140th, while the Cougars are ranked 179th).

Despite the defeat, Columbia saw an underclassman step up: freshman Drake Autenrieth posted 13 points.

Columbia has been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 21 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-24 record this season. As for La Marque, they pushed their record up to 35-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Columbia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Marque, they are taking a road trip to take on Ingleside at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in La Marque's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matchups.
