Baseball Recap: Shirley Takes a Loss

Shirley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-0 to the Mt. Vernon-Enola Warhawks. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Warhawks when the teams met back in April of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Shirley's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Mt. Vernon-Enola, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shirley will square off against Wonderview at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Shirley has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Mt. Vernon-Enola, they will face off against Quitman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
