Basketball Game Preview: North Park Wildcats vs. West Grand Mustangs

The North Park Wildcats will face off against the West Grand Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. North Park has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 13.

Last Saturday, North Park came up short against De Beque and fell 38-31. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Dragons are ranked 113th).

Despite the loss, North Park saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jenna Sessions posted 11 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Sessions a new career-high in assists (four). Micah Wolvington was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, West Grand unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gilpin County.

West Grand's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-2. As for North Park, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

North Park lost to West Grand on the road by a decisive 41-22 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can North Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
