Preview: South Park Sparks vs. Health Sciences Charter Falcons
South Park is 0-4 against Health Sciences Charter since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The South Park Sparks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Health Sciences Charter Falcons at 1:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
South Park scored the most points they've had all season to find success back in January. They claimed a resounding 71-37 win over Western New York Maritime Charter at home. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded South Park with their most commanding win of the season.
Meanwhile, Health Sciences Charter entered their tilt with East with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Health Sciences Charter took down East 72-53 on Thursday. Given Health Sciences Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while East is ranked 725th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Park now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Health Sciences Charter, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
South Park was taken down by Health Sciences Charter 82-50 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for South Park, Xavier Benton (who scored 22 points along with six assists and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
