Football Game Preview: Tascosa Rebels vs. Monterey Plainsmen + How To Watch

The Tascosa Rebels are taking a road trip to challenge the Monterey Plainsmen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Tascosa is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Lubbock 69-7 last Friday. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Westerners are ranked 875th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tascosa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Coltyn Fulton, who rushed for 59 yards and one TD on only five carries. Tendrick Sargent was in the mix as well, providing the Rebels with two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tascosa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 398 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 180 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Monterey got the win against Lubbock on Friday by a conclusive 56-34. The Plainsmen haven't had any issues with the Westerners recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Monterey's win came from a few key players Tascosa will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Darron Moore, who rushed for 198 yards and one score on only 11 carries, and also caught one TD. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 106 rushing yards per game. Jonah Reed was another key passer, throwing for 211 yards and six touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes.

Tascosa's record is now 4-2. As for Monterey, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Tascosa was taken down by Monterey 56-28 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
