Baseball Recap: Glenbrook South Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Glenbrook South, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Maine South Hawks on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Blake Hoffer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Glenbrook South is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Christian Derosena was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Anthony Nottage also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Glenbrook South's record is now 6-7. As for Maine South, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7.

Glenbrook South will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
