Recap: Madison Mohawks vs. Valley View Spartans

There's no place like home for the Madison Mohawks, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against Valley View by a score of 43-32 on Saturday. Given Madison's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Spartans are ranked 500th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Madison's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylie Wells, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Wells is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emily Webb, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.

Madison's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Valley View, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Madison will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Panthers at 7:15 p.m. Twin Valley South comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Valley View, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
