Basketball Recap: Richmond Falls Despite Big Games from Amyannah Tucker and Maren Bolser

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Richmond can now relate to. They lost 53-31 to the Mt. Vernon Marauders on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-33 back in November of 2024.

Richmond's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Maren Bolser, who posted nine points and five rebounds, and Amyannah Tucker, who put up 13 points and five boards.

Leading Mt. Vernon to victory were Zoey Wood and Gabby Thomas. Wood earned 20 points and eight assists, while Thomas went 8 of 13 on her way to 21 points and five boards. The contest was Wood's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Delani Williams, who scored seven points.

Richmond now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Mt. Vernon, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Richmond does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Vernon, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 59-21 defeat against Pendleton Heights on the 8th.
