Soccer Recap: Wauconda Comes Up Short

Wauconda managed to keep up with Lake Zurich until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Bulldogs came up short against the Bears, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, Wauconda can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Lake Zurich are ranked 31st).

Wauconda's goal came courtesy of Isabelle Gerle, who's now up to 20 this season.

Wauconda's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8-2. As for Lake Zurich, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5-1.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Wauconda will challenge Streamwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Zurich, they will face off against Northside at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
