Soccer Recap: El Modena Comes Up Short

If El Modena was riding high fresh off their 4-0 takedown of Rancho Alamitos last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The El Modena Vanguards fell 3-1 to the Garden Grove Argonauts on Wednesday. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Vanguards couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Cam Collazo, who's now up to four this season.

El Modena has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-3 record this season. As for Garden Grove, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-5-1 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Modena will take on Esperanza in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. El Modena is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season. As for Garden Grove, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Costa Mesa at 3:15 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Costa Mesa's last five contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
