Football Game Preview: Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes vs. Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs

The Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes will challenge the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Pompano Beach 15, Dr. Joaquin Garcia 2) so any points scored will be well earned.

Pompano Beach is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They snuck past Boynton Beach with a 6-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Tornadoes.

Meanwhile, Dr. Joaquin Garcia put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 13-6 victory over Boca Raton. The final result isn't all the surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Bobcats are ranked 189th).

Dr. Joaquin Garcia found their leader in sophomore Britny Valle, who made four total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception which she returned one-yard for a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Dr. Joaquin Garcia's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Tionna Waters and Milana Butmankiewicz, who racked up all five sacks between them. Valle got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win got Pompano Beach back to even at 8-8. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-0.

Pompano Beach took their win against Dr. Joaquin Garcia in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 26-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Tornadoes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
