Preview: Fairfield Central Griffins vs. Hartsville Red Foxes

Two dominant guards in Jordyn Adams and Jazzy Frierson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Fairfield Central Griffins will head out on the road to take on the Hartsville Red Foxes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fairfield Central comes in on three and Hartsville on four.

Fairfield Central can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They breezed by Columbia on the road to the tune of 66-16. That 50 points margin sets a new team best for Fairfield Central this season.

Fairfield Central can attribute much of their success to Adams, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, and Jazzlyn McMillan, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McMillan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamia Evans, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, Hartsville didn't have too much trouble with South Florence at home on Tuesday as they won 49-34. Given Hartsville's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while South Florence is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Frierson, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Brooke Mitchell, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

The victory got Fairfield Central back to even at 9-9. As for Hartsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Thursday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Fairfield Central have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 59.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Hartsville struggles in that department as they've made 42.4% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
