Baseball Recap: Blackhawk Takes a Loss

Blackhawk dropped their record down to 6-4 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Ambridge Bridgers by a score of 4-3. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Bridgers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Blackhawk got a good showing from Elijah White, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). White has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carter Davis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Connor Welsh also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Ambridge, they pushed their record up to 8-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

On Ambridge's side, their victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aidyn Iorfido, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

While Blackhawk had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
