Baseball Recap: St. Louis Takes a Loss

St. Louis extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-15 in the process. They came up short against the Ithaca Yellowjackets, falling 20-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sharks of the 16-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

St. Louis saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Seleski, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Miles Strong also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Ithaca, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Ithaca's side, Ryley White made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. White has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five runs, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Those five runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colton Pratt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Ithaca is undefeated when Pratt posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hayden Hull, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.

As of now, neither St. Louis nor Ithaca have any future games scheduled.
