Basketball Game Preview: Vinemont Eagles vs. West Point Warriors

Vinemont hasn't had much luck against West Point recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vinemont Eagles will face off against the West Point Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West Point will be up against a hot Vinemont squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. Vinemont blew past Hanceville, posting a 62-32 win. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 248th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, West Point had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 71-46 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Warriors have posted against the Eagles since February 1, 2022.

Vinemont's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for West Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Vinemont came out on top in a nail-biter against West Point when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 56-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vinemont since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
