Preview: Linfield Christian vs. Excelsior Charter
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Linfield Christian. On Friday they take on Excelsior Charter at 7:00 PM. Excelsior Charter will need to watch out since Linfield Christian have now posted big point totals in their last four contests.
Last week, Linfield Christian were putting the finishing touches on their 4th blowout victory of the season. They took the contest and then some with a 35-0 win over Lakeside. Senior Kaleb Maresh, who picked up 75 yards on the ground and accumulated 225 passing yards, was a major factor in Linfield Christian's success. One of the biggest moments in the contest was Maresh's TD pass to Travion Brown for 60 yards in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, it's about time: Excelsior Charter finally caught a break after 3 consecutive losses. Everything went their way against New Designs Watts as the team secured a 56-6 victory. Excelsior Charter were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Their wins bumped Linfield Christian to 4-0 and Excelsior Charter to 1-3. Linfield Christian's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Excelsior Charter defensive front that amassed 12 sacks against New Designs Watts, so we'll see if they are up to the task.
