Football Recap: Halls Takes a Loss

Halls blew Knoxville Central out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Knoxville Central got their revenge. The Red Devils fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 38-35. The Red Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Halls lost, don't look at Amari Lethgo. Despite the final result, he rushed for 56 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 240 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes. Lethgo's passing game has become a key predictor of the Red Devils' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was McKylus Daniel, who gained 138 total yards and a touchdown.

Even if they lost, Halls' defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Carson Pearce, Dom Culp, and Gavin Self, who each picked up one sack apiece. Halls got some further help from Pearce: he picked up a sack and made 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Kaden Long continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Knoxville Central, rushing for 102 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 258 yards and one TD. Javaston Badgett was in the mix as well, providing the Bobcats with one touchdown.
