Coye Ferguson leads a balanced attack to beat North Vermillion

Recap: Covington Trojans vs. North Vermillion Falcons

The Covington Trojans's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They managed a 62-58 victory over North Vermillion. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Covington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Coye Ferguson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Ferguson hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Austin Stein, who scored 15 points along with seven assists.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Owen Edwards, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Matthew Dawson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Covington's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for North Vermillion, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.

Covington won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Southmont at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Southmont is ranked 298th, while Covington is ranked 294th). As for North Vermillion, they will head out on the road to take on Chrisman at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Chrisman has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
