Soccer Recap: Santa Fe Find Success

Santa Fe hadn't done well against La Serna recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Santa Fe Chiefs beat the La Serna Lancers by a goal, winning 4-3. Given the Chiefs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Lancers are ranked 780th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Santa Fe hit La Serna with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Estevan Vargas (2), Jorge Campos, and Ethan Vizcarra.

Santa Fe's win bumped their record up to 9-1-5. As for La Serna, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-12-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Fe will venture away from home to face off against California at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. California's last five contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. La Serna has already played their next match (against El Rancho), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
