Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jahaven Duncan and Ishmael Kiteka Lead Cloverdale to Victory

Cloverdale had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 26-point drubbing they dealt Riverton Parke on Saturday. The Cloverdale Clovers blew past the Riverton Parke Panthers 83-57. That 26 point margin sets a new team best for the Clovers this season.

Cloverdale was led to victory by Ishmael Kiteka and Jahaven Duncan. Kiteka dropped a double-double on 26 points and 23 boards, while Duncan went 15 of 28 on his way to 35 points along with eight assists and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Duncan has scored at least a third of Cloverdale's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Schabel, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Cloverdale was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Riverton Parke's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jonah Hopkins, who had 21 points in addition to six boards and three steals, and Eli Roberts, who shot 5-for-9 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Collett Sanders, who posted nine points.

The victory was the third in a row for Cloverdale, bringing their record for this year to 4-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Riverton Parke, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Cloverdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-56 loss against South Vermillion on the 26th. As for Riverton Parke, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-34 win against Eminence on the 26th.
