Football Recap: Aquinas Institute Little Irish vs. Bishop Timon-St. Jude Tigers
Aquinas Institute gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They claimed a resounding 36-0 victory over the Bishop Timon-St. Jude Tigers at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Little Irish just coasted through the last quarter.
Aquinas Institute found their leader in underclassman Trent Buttles, who threw for 163 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards and a touchdown. 80 of those passing yards were hauled in by Noah Collins-Howard.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Aquinas Institute's defense and their five sacks. Quante Gillians was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up threehimself. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up three sacks and making six total tackles.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Aquinas Institute was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Timon-St. Jude only rushed for 29.
