Softball Game Preview: Lockhart Lions vs. Rouse Raiders

The Lockhart Lions will venture away from home to take on the Rouse Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lockhart came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Leander, falling 10-0. The shutout was out of character for Lockhart seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

Meanwhile, Rouse didn't have quite enough to beat Lehman on Monday and fell 4-3.

Mariah Collins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Stein, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Even though they lost, Rouse hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lehman struck out eight times.

Rouse's loss dropped their record down to 9-8-2. As for Lockhart, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Lockhart suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Rouse when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Lockhart avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
