Softball Recap: Tri-County Victorious

Tri-County's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Port Edwards Blackhawks a 3-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Penguins: when they faced off against the Blackhawks back in April, they had to take a 16-0 defeat.

Not much got past Brianna Garcia, who gave up just four hits to keep Port Edwards off the board.

On the hitting side, Paris Luna was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Lauren Wilkins also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Tri-County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tri-County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Port Edwards, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Tri-County will face off against Pittsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.46 runs per game on average), something the Penguins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Port Edwards, they have already played their next matchup, an 11-2 win against New Lisbon on the 8th.
