Baseball Recap: Caledonia Comes Up Short

If Caledonia was riding high fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Dover-Eyota on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors lost 12-2 to the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars on Thursday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Caledonia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Schmitz, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Caledonia's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Caledonia will head out to face off against Fillmore Central/Lanesboro at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they will square off against La Crescent at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
