Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Esean Johnson and Gianni Clark Lead Washington to Victory

After losing to Kennedy the last time they met, Washington decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Washington Huskies came out on top in a nail-biter against the Kennedy Titans on Tuesday, sneaking past 67-64. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Titans are ranked 781st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Washington to victory were Gianni Clark and Esean Johnson. Clark went 11 for 23 on his way to 27 points and three steals, while Johnson posted 14 points in addition to eight assists and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clark has scored at least a third of Washington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Uynam Trinh, who had ten points.

Washington's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. As for Kennedy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will host Moreau Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Moreau Catholic will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Washington surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kennedy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Newark Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newark Memorial is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.
