Softball Game Preview: Hillsboro Spartans vs. Wilsonville Wildcats

Hillsboro hasn't had much luck against Wilsonville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Spartans will host the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Hillsboro has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hillsboro managed to slip by Canby the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Spartans came up short against the Cougars on Thursday, falling 12-4.

Meanwhile, Wilsonville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Wilsonville pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Hillsboro, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Hillsboro might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Wilsonville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
