Darnell Seay leads a balanced attack to beat McGavock

The LEAD Academy Panthers's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They put the hurt on McGavock with a sharp 67-46 victory. For LEAD Academy, this counts as revenge for the 79-74 loss McGavock walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2020.

LEAD Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darnell Seay, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Seay pulled down eight or more rebounds. Anthony Petway was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and three steals.

LEAD Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for McGavock, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-8.

LEAD Academy will face off against Marshall County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Marshall County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday. As for McGavock, they will be playing at home against Smyrna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Smyrna has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
