Basketball Recap: Pine Ridge Comes Up Short

Pine Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 48-37 to the Seabreeze Sandcrabs. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Sandcrabs earlier this season, when they won 43-38.

When it comes to explaining why Pine Ridge lost, don't look at Serenity Cressor. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Cressor has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. Brookelin Murray was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.

Seabreeze's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madeleine Trumble, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Amaya Bethea, who earned 13 points.

Pine Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Seabreeze, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Pine Ridge has already played their next match (against Lake Brantley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Seabreeze will head out to face off against First Baptist Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist Christian Academy will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Seabreeze surely won't give up without a fight.
