Parke Heritage has gone 8-1 against North Putnam recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Wolves will face off against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Parke Heritage is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Parke Heritage proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Benton Central 2-1.
Renn Harper made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Harper was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Harper wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lewie Woody, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, North Putnam had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Western Boone with a sharp 7-1 win on Monday. The Cougars not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10th (when they won 7-1).
Owen Thurman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
On the hitting side, Griffen Starr was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since May 3rd. Sam Wendt also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
North Putnam was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Parke Heritage's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for North Putnam, their record is now 10-14.
Parke Heritage came out on top in a nail-biter against North Putnam in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
