Softball Recap: Breckinridge County Takes a Loss

Breckinridge County extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-16 in the process. They came up short against the Hancock County Hornets, falling 15-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Tuesday.

Breckinridge County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Armes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for Hancock County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. The victory was familiar territory for they, who have now won four matchups in a row.

On Hancock County's side, they let Carolina Jones and Ansley House run wild. Jones went a perfect 1-for-1 with four runs and two stolen bases, while House went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Jones continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Ryleigh French was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Breckinridge County will challenge John Hardin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hancock County, they will be playing at home against Tell City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Hornets' favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while the Marksmen have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
