Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Eagles vs. Central Hardin Bruins

The Eastern Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Central Hardin Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastern has three straight wins, Central Hardin has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Eastern made easy work of Fern Creek and carried off a 14-4 victory.

Jake Bloecker tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Eastern let Niko Williams and Matt Collier run wild. Williams went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Collier went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Collier is becoming a predictor of Eastern's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 9-17 when he doesn't). Easton Lady also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Eastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.

Meanwhile, Central Hardin fell victim to Owensboro and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-0 to the Red Devils, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Eastern's record is now 13-18. As for Central Hardin, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-14.

Eastern beat Central Hardin 6-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
